ABOUT

About Biofield Transformations

Biofield Transformations is a place for exploring the evolving relationship among traditional practices, personal experience, contemplative wellbeing, and scientific inquiry.

Reiki is central to our work, but the questions we explore reach further: how people practice, what they experience, what traditions teach, what research can measure, and what remains unknown.

We believe curiosity and discernment belong together.

Where Tradition, Experience & Inquiry Meet

Biofield Transformations grew from a simple but enduring curiosity: what happens when we take traditional practices and lived experience seriously without asking either of them to become something they are not?

A spiritual or contemplative practice can hold personal meaning without becoming a scientific claim. A research finding can deepen understanding without explaining every aspect of human experience. And an unanswered question can remain open without needing to be filled with certainty.

That is the space Biofield Transformations is designed to hold.

Our work brings together Reiki education and practice, public learning, personal wellbeing resources, evidence-aware exploration, and opportunities for ongoing practice. Across those areas, we aim to remain open to what people experience while being clear about what research has—and has not—established.

We do not believe respect for tradition requires abandoning critical inquiry, or that scientific rigor requires dismissing experiences that remain difficult to explain.

BRAND & ORIGIN

Why “Biofield Transformations”?

The name reflects both the breadth of the questions that inspired this work and the personal experiences from which it grew.

Biofield

Biofield was chosen because the work was never intended to be limited to Reiki alone.

The word created room for a wider inquiry into Reiki and related practices, traditional ideas about subtle energy, contemplative experience, human biology, consciousness, and the questions researchers continue to explore.

We use the term carefully. Measurable electrical, magnetic, neural, and other biological activity is real and scientifically studied.

Measurable electrical, magnetic, neural, and other biological activity is real and scientifically studied. Traditional concepts such as ki, subtle energy, chakras, or the aura belong to different historical and spiritual frameworks. Research may explore questions that touch both territories, but the existence of measurable biological phenomena does not by itself establish that traditional subtle-energy concepts are the same thing—or that Reiki operates through a demonstrated electromagnetic or other physical mechanism.

For Biofield Transformations, the word biofield therefore represents a field of inquiry, not a claim that all of these questions have already been scientifically resolved.

Transformations

Transformations has a more personal origin.

The practices that eventually shaped Biofield Transformations had a profound effect on founder Diana Dodds’s own life and on how she learned to meet some of its most difficult periods.

That experience of change—through practice, reflection, relationship, learning, and a different way of meeting life—is part of what the word transformations continues to mean here.

It is not a promise that a session, course, meditation, or practice will produce a particular transformation for someone else. It is a recognition that sustained practice and meaningful experience can change the way a person relates to themselves, to difficulty, and to the life they are living.

Together, the name reflects a broad field of exploration and a deeply human interest in how practice can shape experience.

HOW WE THINK

Four Ways We Keep the Conversation Clear

Biofield Transformations explores subjects that can be described through very different lenses. Rather than blending those lenses together, we try to be clear about which one we are using.

Tradition

What a practice or spiritual framework teaches.

Reiki and other contemplative or subtle-energy traditions carry their own histories, concepts, practices, and ways of understanding experience. We can describe those teachings respectfully without presenting them automatically as scientific fact.

Experience

What a person perceives, feels, or finds meaningful.

Personal experience matters. Someone may experience calm, connection, insight, emotion, subtle sensations, spiritual meaning, or nothing particularly unusual at all.

Those experiences can be meaningful without proving a universal outcome or explaining the mechanism behind them.

Evidence

What research has observed, measured, or established.

When we discuss science, we look at what was actually studied: the population, practice, comparison, outcome, study design, limitations, and the larger evidence landscape.

Supportive findings matter. Mixed, null, and inconclusive findings matter too.

Open Questions

What remains uncertain, emerging, or unresolved.

Some questions do not yet have clear answers. Proposed mechanisms may be interesting without being demonstrated. New findings may be promising without being conclusive. And some experiences may remain meaningful even when science cannot yet explain why they occur.

These ways of knowing can inform one another, but they are not interchangeable. What counts as the strongest source of understanding depends on the question being asked.

Responsible Exploration

Biofield Transformations was created to explore.

That means we can remain curious about Reiki, the biofield, contemplative practice, consciousness, subtle-energy traditions, and emerging research while still asking careful questions about evidence, mechanisms, limitations, and uncertainty.

When research is supportive, we can say so. When it is mixed, preliminary, inconclusive, or null, that belongs in the conversation too. A measured outcome does not automatically tell us why that outcome occurred, and research in one practice or population should not automatically be generalized to another.

The same care applies to personal experience. We can make space for spiritual meaning and subjective experience without turning them into medical claims or promises about what another person will experience.

Our language may also change as knowledge changes. Responsible inquiry includes the willingness to revise an explanation when better evidence becomes available.

Biofield Transformations supports education, personal practice, complementary wellbeing, and exploration. Its services and resources are not replacements for medical diagnosis, emergency care, psychotherapy, prescribed treatment, or other licensed healthcare.

THE ECOSYSTEM

What Biofield Transformations Does

People arrive at Biofield Transformations for different reasons. Some are trying to understand Reiki or the biofield. Some are looking closely at the research. Some want to learn Reiki, receive individualized Reiki support, begin a personal practice, or find more ways to sustain one.

There is no single required path.

Explore & Understand

Our Learn resources provide a starting point for Reiki, biofield concepts, biofield therapy, Distance Reiki, common questions, evidence, and related areas of inquiry.

For visitors who want to look more closely at published research, the Evidence & Research hub examines supportive, mixed, null, and unresolved findings while keeping clinical outcomes separate from proposed mechanisms.

Build an Ongoing Practice

Whispering Wings Wellbeing is a distinct but connected digital personal-practice environment created by Diana Dodds and offered through Biofield Transformations, LLC.

It extends beyond Reiki into meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, music and sound, reflection, challenges, live events, community, and other ways of supporting an ongoing practice.

Whispering Wings is not required for Reiki training or Reiki sessions. It is another path for people who want greater variety, continuity, and participation in their personal practice.

Standards That Support the Work

Openness does not mean leaving standards undefined. Across Biofield Transformations, we use different forms of structure depending on the work being offered.

Reiki Education

Our Reiki training maintains a documented Usui Reiki lineage and a mastery-based approach in which completing material and demonstrating competency are not treated as the same thing.

Students move through practice, live milestones, assessment, mentor review, and clearly defined training expectations.

Reiki Services

Reiki sessions are offered with clear scope, consent, personal autonomy, and complementary-wellness boundaries.

The work does not depend on promising a particular experience or outcome.

Public Education & Evidence

Educational content is developed with attention to source quality, evidence status, uncertainty, and the distinction among traditional teaching, personal experience, research findings, and proposed mechanisms.

When existing language no longer reflects the evidence or our standards, we revise it.

For us, credibility is not about sounding certain. It is about being clear about what we know, what we do not know, and what kind of claim we are making.

FOUNDER

Founded by Diana Dodds

Biofield Transformations was founded by Diana Dodds during a period of long-term caregiving, personal practice, and deep inquiry into how contemplative and energy practices were shaping her own experience.

What began as something deeply personal gradually expanded into practice with others, Reiki teaching, public education, and a broader exploration of the relationships among tradition, experience, wellbeing, and scientific inquiry.

Diana is a Reiki practitioner and teacher and the creator of Whispering Wings Wellbeing. Her approach to Biofield Transformations continues to reflect the same questions that shaped its beginning: how to remain open to experience, grounded in practice, respectful of tradition, and honest about evidence and uncertainty.

Her full story—including her background, caregiving journey, contemplative practice, Reiki training, teaching, and evidence-aware approach—is explored separately on About Diana.
