Usui Reiki Level 2 Certification — Okuden
Deepen your Reiki practice and develop toward responsible professional practice with others.
Level 2 — Okuden is the second stage of the Biofield Transformations Usui Reiki certification pathway. Building on the personal-practice foundation established in Shoden, Okuden develops deeper Reiki practice, work with others, distance practice, professional ethics, and the judgment expected at the professional-practitioner stage.
Shoden certification is required before progressing to Okuden.

Deepen Reiki as a Practice With Others
Okuden is often translated in context as “Inner Teaching” or “Deeper Teaching.” Within the Biofield Transformations pathway, that deepening is not simply about adding more techniques. It is about developing greater consistency, responsibility, discernment, and maturity in how Reiki is practiced with others.
The foundations learned in Shoden remain important. Gassho, Gokai, breath and Tanden awareness, Reiji, Byosen, self-practice, consent, boundaries, and non-diagnostic observation continue to support the work at Level 2.
Okuden then extends that foundation through Level 2 symbol practice, distance Reiki, refined Japanese practices, professional ethics, case reflection, documentation, and the practical responsibilities involved in offering Reiki more formally.
Okuden is the Biofield Transformations professional-practitioner threshold. Professional readiness is demonstrated through practice, ethical judgment, skill, and competency—not simply by completing lessons.
Who Okuden Is Being Developed For
You have completed Shoden and demonstrated foundational readiness
Okuden builds on the personal practice, foundational techniques, ethical awareness, live attunement, integration, practice evidence, and assessment work completed in Level 1.
You want to deepen rather than rush your Reiki practice
Level 2 is intended for students who want to build on established foundations with greater consistency and maturity rather than treating progression as a race toward more advanced titles or techniques.
You want to develop professional-practitioner competencies
Okuden is the stage at which the Biofield Transformations pathway begins preparing students for responsible professional Reiki practice with others.
You are ready for greater responsibility around ethics and scope
Professional practice requires more than technique. Level 2 develops deeper attention to consent, confidentiality, boundaries, documentation, communication, referral, ethical marketing, and appropriate scope of practice.
You want to continue toward advanced Reiki practice
Okuden is the required developmental stage before Shinpiden, where the pathway moves into Master Practitioner / Advanced Practitioner development.
What You Will Learn and Practice at Okuden
Deeper Reiki Foundations
Return to the practices established in Shoden at a deeper level, including Gokai, Gassho, breath and Tanden awareness, Reiji, Byosen, self-practice, and the relationship between structured technique and responsive practice.
Level 2 Symbol Practice
Learn the three Level 2 lineage symbols within their historical and lineage context, including their forms, traditional meanings, responsible application, and the importance of practice without becoming dependent on symbols.
Distance Reiki
Develop distance Reiki as a lineage practice, including preparation, consent, communication, session structure, documentation, and appropriate ethical boundaries.
Refined Japanese Reiki Practice
Continue developing Japanese Reiki practices such as Reiji, Byosen, Gassho, Joshin Kokyu-Ho and Hatsurei-Ho while learning to apply them with greater responsiveness and restraint.
Professional Ethics & Scope
Develop professional expectations around informed consent, confidentiality, record-keeping, touch and hands-off options, client boundaries, referral, emergency boundaries, responsible communication, fees and policies, and ethical public claims about Reiki.
Casework & Practitioner Development
Use practice, documentation, reflection, case consultation, feedback, and mentor guidance to strengthen judgment and develop confidence without over-interpreting experiences or making stronger claims than the practice supports.
A Training Experience Built Around Practice, Responsibility and Feedback
Structured Learning
Okuden is being developed within the Biofield Transformations mastery-based training model, combining structured teaching, guided practice, reflection, and supporting learning resources.
Receive Your Live Level 2 Attunement
Level 2 includes one live, synchronous Reiki attunement supporting the lineage symbol work taught at Okuden.
Attunement is presented as a traditional Reiki training milestone. No particular sensation, vision, emotional reaction, or other unusual experience is required for competency or certification.
Practice With Others
Level 2 develops both in-person and distance practice with greater attention to professional communication, consent, documentation, boundaries, and consistency.
Learn Through Feedback and Mentor Review
Practice evidence, reflection, case review, observed work, ethics judgment, and mentor feedback contribute to determining readiness for certification.
Professional Readiness Is Developed Through Practice, Not Just Study
Learning new techniques matters. Developing the judgment to use them responsibly matters just as much.
Okuden includes sustained practice with others, continued self-practice, professional reflection, and evidence of developing competency.
Practice, case reflection, professional judgment, technical skill, ethics, and mentor review all contribute to determining readiness at the professional-practitioner stage.
Progression is governed by demonstrated competency and readiness—not elapsed time alone.
Certification Is Earned Through Demonstrated Competency
Completing Okuden course material will be an important part of Level 2 training, but lesson completion alone will not automatically result in certification.
Course completion makes you eligible for assessment. Demonstrated competency earns certification.
Level 2 assessment is designed to consider the areas appropriate to the professional-practitioner stage, including knowledge, practical skill, symbol practice, in-person and distance work, practice evidence, ethical judgment, professional communication, and mentor-reviewed readiness.
When the required Okuden standard has been demonstrated, the student earns Usui Reiki Level 2 Practitioner Certification — Okuden.
The credential represents the Biofield Transformations professional-practitioner milestone. Students who practice professionally are also responsible for understanding any legal, business, licensing, insurance, or other requirements that apply where they live or work.
Training Grounded in Lineage, Ethics and Responsible Practice
Biofield Transformations teaches Usui Reiki as the core of its certification pathway while clearly distinguishing historical foundations, documented lineage practices, later developments, contemporary curriculum decisions, and optional complementary material.
At Okuden, the Level 2 symbols and distance Reiki are taught within their lineage and traditional context. Traditional or spiritual explanations are not converted into scientifically established medical claims, and professional practice remains non-diagnostic and complementary to—not a replacement for—licensed medical or mental-health care.
The professional-practitioner credential also carries responsibility. Students are expected to communicate Reiki accurately, respect consent and autonomy, remain within appropriate scope, and recognize when referral to another qualified professional is appropriate.
Okuden Is the Professional-Practitioner Stage of a Four-Level Path
Each level of the Biofield Transformations Usui Reiki pathway builds on the one before it. Advancement reflects demonstrated practice, competency, and readiness rather than simply completing content or waiting for a set amount of time.
